An MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) is a carrier that does not own towers; it rents capacity from Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile and resells it under its own brand — Mint, Consumer Cellular, US Mobile, Tello, and dozens more.
For dumbphone users MVNOs are a natural fit: a phone that barely touches data pairs beautifully with a $10–15/month plan. The critical check is which host network the MVNO rides on, because your phone's VoLTE certification must match it — a Verizon-certified flip needs a Verizon-based MVNO.
